Silver Palms is Now Open and we invite you to come see us! We are busy putting the finishing touches on the Silver Palms Club to include the sports courts, pool and main Clubhouse. As Spring begins we want to ask you a question, "Where will you be next Winter?" Meet Jim and Marilyn Krasner, from Toms River, NJ they bought lot #61 on the lake in Silver Palms. They have been avid boaters for a long time and in the past few years, since Jim's retirement, have enjoyed traveling 6 months of the year in their Class A Motor home with their adorable Teacup Poodle, Victoria. They take pleasure in their children and 8 grandchildren when they are in New Jersey. The Krasner's are about to celebrate their 50th Wedding anniversary in May and thoroughly enjoy the small town lifestyle that Okeechobee offers. This is what they have to say about buying their lot in Silver Palms... We have been "Snowbirds" without a south Florida anchor location for years. It has become progressively more difficult to put together an extended Florida stay while bouncing from one RV Park to another. Staying a month or so in each one and never getting a prime site because they went to the 3 or 4 month committed snowbirds wasn't for us. At that time, we had not found a place that we wanted to spend the entire season. The planning, commitment and reservations, for a year in advance and then getting a sub-standard site, was becoming a letdown. We finally realized this was not our vision of Paradise. A year ago, quite by accident, we found out that Bill Harvey had a vision of a beautiful community in the sun. His dream became our dream that has now come true. Silver Palms was being built. The prime reasons we were interested were affordability, the opportunity to purchase our site and a perfect location for us since we fell in love with the town of Okeechobee, FL. This town is perfect for us. It is the right combination of an "Old Florida" town without being old and the feel of rural Florida while being so close to so much in Central and South Florida. When we saw the site plan for Silver Palms, we bought a site immediately. We moved into our new winter home on March 24, 2009. Coming to Silver Palms has been a real adventure, a new beginning, a sense of belonging, the feel of community. It really is a "Wonderful Life". We are so proud and happy to call Silver Palms RV Village our home away from home. It's like being home only better! We are so glad we didn't let this opportunity slip away.
