Special Events Are Plentiful This Spring Near Silver Palms RV Resort

For fun seeking residents and guests of Silver Palms RV Resort, there is rarely a dull moment with countless activities and amenities available on-site – from relaxing in a large heated resort-style swimming pool to fishing in its five pristine lakes and from games of pickleball and volleyball to countless social activities planned by the resort’s full-time activities director.

BARRETT-JACKSON AUTO AUCTION

Taking place April 6-8 at the South Florida Fairgrounds, The annual Barrett-Jackson Auto Auction features classic cars spanning the decades including vintage Volkswagen vans, 1960s muscle cars, and sleek contemporary rides. FLORIDA BLUEBERRY FESTIVAL

If you love blueberries then the Florida Blueberry Festival taking place in Brooksville from April 22-23 is for you!  Those who are used to only eating blueberries floating on cereal or embedded in muffins will be surprised at the variety of uses. There will be all sorts of desserts to taste, plus wines, vinegar, and jams. Festival-goers don’t live by blueberries alone and for them, there is a beer garden, dog show, and car show.

Come celebrate the Okeechobee 100 years

OKEECHOBEE CENTENNIAL BIRTHDAY PARTY

On May 6, come to join in the fun and participate in Okeechobee County’s 100th Birthday Extravaganza with family and friends:  This event, taking place at the Okeechobee Agri-Civic Center from 1-9pm, is FREE and will include a number of great outside fun events for kids of all ages.  This event will also be the true start for the next 100 years with the first time ever Speckled Perch drop courtesy of BMJ Towing.  For more information, please click here.

FESTIVAL OF THE ARTS

Historic downtown Sanford gets its art on every year for the St. Johns River Festival of the Arts May 6-7 in downtown Sanford, FL. The brick streets are lined with booths stuffed with the work of regionally and nationally known fine and craft artists. Some of the mediums include painting, pottery, sculpture, and woodworking. EN PLEIN AIR PAINT-OUT

Held May 5-14, the 10-day Forgotten Coast En Plein Air is also called America’s Great Paint-Out.  Throughout the event, artists paint the scenic Florida Panhandle coast from Alligator Point to Mexico Beach. They recall the work and times of Degas, Monet and Pissarro, who also painted “plein air” or in the open air. The paint-out features workshops, guest speakers and painting stations along the Gulf of Mexico. Hibiscus flower festival in Okeechobee, Florida

HIBISCUS FESTIVAL

Two of Florida’s most beautiful blooms, orchids, and hibiscus, are celebrated at the annual Punta Gorda Hibiscus Festival May 19-20 in Punta Gorda’s Historic Park.  Visitors will marvel at the different varieties of hibiscus, plus get a chance to see other exotic plants and trees. There’s a car show and a Li’l Miss Hibiscus Pageant plus a garden tour.  Find more information here.

STUART SAILFISH REGATTA

Boating enthusiasts are sure to love the annual Stuart Sailfish Regatta May 20-21, featuring hydroplane, race boat and powerboat drivers competing for prize money. The north side of the Stuart Causeway Bridge in Stuart, FL is the watery racetrack for these high-performance vessels that reach speeds over 100 mph. Live music, food and other festivities accompany the race, and much of the proceeds raised from the event benefit local charities. Click here for more information.

PAIRINGS FOOD + WINE EVENT

Held on May 25 as part of Sunfest, the Pairings Food + Wine Event features free samplings of food, drinks, and other popular items at dozens of popular downtown West Palm Beach bars, restaurants, and businesses.  While there, you can also take advantage of the rest of SunFest including countless bands, an Art District including unique interactive installations and a variety of consumer-friendly goods, and more!
